Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Donald Christian is our featured guest this week on the "On Campus @ SUNY New Paltz" television show. For those in the SUNY New Paltz community who haven't had the pleasure of meeting our new Provost, this is your opportunity to get to know the man behind the title.

Host Devon Duhaney of the Department of Secondary Education speaks with Provost Christian on his first two months living and working in the Hudson Valley. Also discussed are his first impressions of the college, major responsibilities in his new position, the impact of the present economic situation on higher education and his strategies to address current issues.

Host Stephen Kitsakos speaks with various members of the campus community involved with IDMH. Guests are James Halpern, Director of IDMH; Karla Vermeulen, Coordinator of IDMH; Meredith Johnson, Graduate Student Counselor; Rachel Bisceglie, Graduate Assistant; and Zachary Joyce, IDMH Alumni and Red Cross Volunteer. James and Karla discuss the definition of a disaster and how it relates to mental health, the types of disasters to which they respond, and how the Office of Disaster Mental Health is coordinated. Meredith, Rachel and Zachary speak about their experience in the field, including working with the victims of the floods in Ulster County and Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

Host Rob Miraldi of Communication and Media interviews 1970 alumnus Congressman Maurice Hinchey of New York's 22nd District. They discuss the country's involvement in Iraq, possible impeachable offenses committed by the Bush Administration, and the deception of the U.S. public. Hinchey also talks about his career history and his accomplishments in the eight terms he has served in the U.S. House of Representatives.
